Anyone else notice this dirty rain yesterday? Any idea how it's caused?

      Well, this.....
"Jessica Kielhorn, a meteorologist technician with the National Weather Service in Reno, said it likely was a result of dry and dusty weather leaving cars dirty and the Sunday night rain not being heavy enough to wash the dust away. There also was pollen in the air, she said."
....is not what I (nor others I spoke to) experienced.

As I was driving, only occasionally using my wipers, the dirty drops of rain would dry on my windshield. I'd then use washer fluid to clean it, and then it would happen again. So, it was in the rain water, not from just the car already being dirty (which, I admit it was).

I even found some of these dried drops on a brand new, black plastic dust pan I left outside.

I heard a rumour it was due to fine particulate matter put into the upper spheres by a huge fire in Siberia. Sound plausible? I suppose if ash from Mt. Saint Hellens traveled the world that it's not far off the mark.

I heard something similar recently, and this happened again the other day. This supposedly isn't that uncommon, to have the rain clean out the air - there is just usually more rain to follow so it therefore doesn't give the stuff time to dry on surfaces.

          Anyway, intersting...

I heard it was playa dust from our local Playa's....
            Ya, I like that story!
            I'll stay with that one!

            hehehee

            everythings better with playa dust!

...and playing with all of last years gear here in the last month,
does anyone else think it smells sweet?
You know, like, kamasutra honey powder? heheee

haha yes the gear does smell sweet. Busted out a lot of gear that has been unopened on since the playa. A big puff of dust to sniff up.

I haven't been to BM for two years now (birth of the second child and family vacations kinda conflicted) but our trailer still is loaded with dust. I only have to step inside to be out there...
